Florals

In our house, we have an open foyer just inside the front door. It's pretty wide and with a lot of natural light, I thought it would be the perfect place to put a nice, simple floral arrangement. I just wanted my entrance table to have a floral arrangement on one side, simple lamp on the other, and a metallic star on the wall. I headed to Walmart with my family in tow and found just what I needed. In the home aisle, I found two vases for around 8 dollars a piece. I went to the floral aisle and picked up two simple white cherry blossom-looking stems for 2 dollars a piece and 5 single calla lillies for 2 dollars piece, as well. Lastly, in the same aisle, I found floral styrofoam to put in the vases to keep the flowers steady and in place. That was right around 3 dollars for a pack of three. Total for two arrangements it cost around 33 dollars.

Our New House

Through the ups and downs, we have purchased our first home. It's my dream house - an old 1900 home that's been remodeled in a historic district right next to the river. My favorite part of all of this is the open canvas inside. I am an interior decorator wannabe. The problem is, I'm poor. :) I can't afford to pay someone to come decorate my house for me, and I certainly can't shell out big bucks to buy expensive pieces myself. That's where my imagination comes in. With this blog, I'll showcase my cheap designs along with instructions, prices, and stores. Nothing too exciting, grand, or hard -- just enough to make my house feel more welcoming and inviting. I'll be honest - I am not the best blogger on the face of the planet. I *maybe* can blog once a week, if that. So, updates and projects will hopefully be every few weeks. If you have anything you want me to try, email me at joaniepugh@gmail.com. Enjoy!
